                  FORMS OF WATER

Many things change form.

What do you think of when we say that an

  EGG changes to a                         Bird
                                         Turtle

  TADPOLE changes to a                     Frog

  CATERPILLAR changes to a            Butterfly

  WATER changes to a                     Liquid

                                          Solid

                                            Gas

What is the most common form that you see water?

 LIQUID

Why is that? Because WE...

   Drink it

   Swim in it

   Go fishing in it

   Take baths in it

   Wash dishes in it

   Water our gardens with it

Rain is the most common form of water that we see around us when we
are outside in the spring, summer and fall. Then what happens to the
water in the winter?

It turns to a solid. Which solid form of water do you like?

      SNOW

      ICE

Snow is a lot of fun to play in.What are some of the fun activities
that you have done in it? Like skiing, sledding, making a snowman or
forts, or playing games.

What do you think of when you think of ice in North Dakota?

Do you think of ice skating, ice fishing, or slippery roads to drive
on?  Hail is ice that we may see in the summer. When it falls from the
sky, it may damage our homes and crops.

What form of WATER can't be seen?

      WATER VAPOR

Why is that? Water molecules are very small and moving very fast.
When many water molecules bump into each other, they become a water
droplet.Very small droplets stay in the air as clouds or fog. When
small droplets bump into each other, they form large water droplets
that fall from the sky as rain.

Do we need all three forms of WATER?
